[Closed]Incredibly buggy web wallet, are my funds lost?

Hi everyone,

Back in April, I made my first XDC wallet address. I had invested a small amount of money into XDC and wanted to move it to cold storage as soon as possible.
I've been in the crypto space for a number of years now, but the process seemed very complicated as there's no direct support for the wallet that I normally use. So I resorted to the XDC web wallet.

So I wrote down my seed phrase and XDC wallet address and sent the XDC to the wallet:
https://xdc.blocksscan.io/txs/0xb36b97beb831cf38c4a7b9fa4e15e35c5e903ca1a12908f999e67bee6050303c#overview

But as soon as I tried logging back in with that information, I couldn't get to the funds. I had very little experience with HD derivation paths, I think that's one of the reasons why I'm experiencing problems.

My main question is whether my funds are lost without the correct HD derivation path and only the XDC wallet address information, that's practically all I need to know.

About the wallet issues; as soon as I made a wallet, I experienced issues with clicking on anything, basically. Almost every click seemed to cause problems, and sometimes the error notifications appeared while not clicking on anything.
My screen got filled top to bottom with these notifications. It was so bad that I thought the web wallet was a scam. Since the official XinFin website has a link to the web wallet site, I assume it's not.

Thanks for helping out,

BM

EDIT: Of course I also have my password besides my mnemonic phrase.

Hello @anonymous

Thank you for reaching out to us on the XDC.dev platform. To address this concern,I recommend referring to our informative article Importing Your Mnemonic/Seed Phrase to the Latest Beta Version of XDC Web Wallet: Resolving Address Mismatch

Access your wallet conveniently via: betawallet.xinfin.network/#/

We hope this solution will be helpful to you, and please feel free to reach out if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Hi Jay,

Thanks! I'll look into it. Unfortunately, the link doesn't work, but I did find this xdc.dev/vinn_9686/importing-your-m...

There's one problem though. I do have the password and my seed phrase, but I don't know for sure the original ETH address that I used for routing. I assumed it was only some sort of bridge to get the funds to the XDC wallet, but it seems it's not. Is it correct that the wallet is recoverable without knowing the exact ETH address used initially? It didn't show up after trying to access the wallet, it just said 'choose an address'. Yes, I did click on accessing the web wallet, not on creating one.

So I put in my wallet information using the beta wallet, but now I'm still stuck at the part where I should choose the HD derivation path, but all accounts shown are empty. I only have the XDC wallet address, not the ETH address. I feel like the ETH address might be equally important in terms of accessing the funds at all. Is that right?

I also tried if I used another network. Clicking on Apothem leads to an error ("connection not open on send()" ), XDC Network shows ETH addresses and clicking on Ethereum results in another error ("could not detect network (event="noNetwork", code=NETWORK_ERROR, version=providers/5.7.2)" )

My assumption is that my problem cannot be fixed because I've been incredibly stupid, and that there is nothing I can do. Am I missing something?

EDIT: Now I noticed that the wallet is built by MyEtherWallet. That confirms to me that I just didn't pay attention by not writing down the Ethereum wallet address.

EDIT 2: I noticed that people pointed out they need to "scroll endlessly" to get to the right wallet address. The only network option that gives me wallet options is XDC Network, but after clicking until the batch with wallet 80, I did not get my wallet address. I assumed that it would find the right wallet sort of automatically or that searching for a specific address is possible. Also, the addresses that are shown are still Ethereum, so I don't fully understand what is going on anymore. I purposefully clicked on XDC Network, but I'm unable to find an XDC wallet address in the UI.

Hey @anonymous

XDC network is EVM compatible, so it works well with both 'XDC' and '0x' prefixes. Make sure that you are entering correct password, without entering correct password for your Mnemonic/Seed phrase, you will not be able to access the same address.

Also, I would recommend you to do not modify the HD derivation path keep it as is. Take a moment to revisit the images in the article for better understanding.

Feel free to ask if you need more assistance!
